Chocolate Tours on Tap!

Chocolate Tours on Tap!

It’s time Chicago had a chocolate tour that explored the fantastic offerings here along the lakefront! Chicago Weekend Explorers has stepped up to fill the void, and to fill your tummy too.

Chicago used to be somewhat impoverished in the chocolate department. Sure, you could smell a lot of chocolate (thanks Blommers!) but other than Frango’s, there wasn’t much to choose from. Things are different now though! From Katherine Anne Confections to Toni Patisserie, then on down to Kilwin’s in Hyde Park, there are an impressive number of chocolatiers, fudge shops, and “drinking chocolate” boutiques populating our marvelous city.

Join us this Spring for our new chocolate tour, featuring old favorites – like Kilwin’s – and new stars! We will also take a stroll along the 606 Trail, which passes close to several of Chicago’s chocolate shops. Watch this space for more details!

In the meantime, we’ll be keeping you updated on what to sample from the Chicago chocolate scene. A good place to start would be Toni Patisserie, at 65 East Washington. More of a bakery/café than a dedicated chocolatier, Toni Patisserie nevertheless has amazing brownies and a hot chocolate that is rich and decadent. That tall, dark fellow pictured in the gallery below is Toni’s “adult hot chocolate”, or so it was described to me when we were first introduced about a year ago. Bring a little chocolatey cheer to your winter and enjoy a glass the next time you’re in the Loop!
